Latvia begins implementation of adopted territorial reform
Latvian Prime Minister Krishjanis Karins instructed all cabinet members to submit proposals and a plan of necessary actions to change the public administration system by October 1 in connection with the new law on administrative and territorial reform that came into force, the lsm.lv portal writes. Reducing the number of municipalities from 119 to 42 significantly changes the management system in the country, creates new administrative centers to replace the abolished ones. After summarizing the proposals of the departments, the Cabinet of Ministers will create a single action plan for implementing the reform into the public administration system.
