In Brazil, raided in connection with the hacking of government networks
Brazilian police officers raided houses of suspects in hacking government networks and publishing the personal data of officials. This was reported by the electronic magazine ZDNet with reference to the report of the Brazilian Federal Police. In early June, hackers called the Anonymous Brasil group published personal information from a number of statesmen on Twitter, including Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and several ministers. A month later, the Brazilian police told about the progress of the investigation. Investigators searched the homes of several suspects, including three teenagers living in the cities of Rio Grande do Sul and Ceará. During the searches, it was found that cybercriminals gained access to personal data not only of officials, but also more than 200 thousand military personnel. It is noted that hackers managed to penetrate the computer systems of several universities, city halls and city councils in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul. In the last of these states alone, systems of more than 90 institutions were hacked. The police added that this hacker group may be involved in other cybercrime, including fraud in the field of Internet commerce. The investigation of the incident is ongoing. As previously reported by the news agency, on June 2, the administration of the social network Twitter deleted messages with links to databases with personal data of Brazilian statesmen.
