Australia says coronavirus-suppressing drug in 48 hours

Antiparasitic drug ivermectin is able to suppress the reproduction of coronavirus COVID-19 in the human body in two days, Australian scientists from Monash University and the Royal Hospital in Melbourne reported in the journal Antivirus Research on April 8. According to them, ivermectin suppresses SARS- CoV -2, which excites coronavirus. The researchers said they studied the effects of the drug on cells previously infected with coronavirus during the experiments. According to them, two days after the introduction of ivermectin into the infected cell, the content of viral RNA in it decreased by more than 99%. After 48 hours, the level of viral RNA in ivermectin-treated cells decreased by a factor of five thousand compared to the control samples. This is equivalent to the loss of almost all viral material contained in the cell, indicated in the article. At the same time scientists assure that toxic effect of ivermectin on samples was not found. According to the news agency, today in the world are infected with coronavirus more than 1.3 million people, of which more than 79 thousand died.
